7 Haiku about Raindrops and Falling Tears of Sorrow

Raindrops on my face
dark clouds on the horizon
I hold back the tears

Memories mingle
with the tears of misty eyes
silently,raindrops

Tears fall from heaven
a heart opens the floodgate
to grief and sorrow

Tears falling,falling
heart fluttering,fluttering
my love, departing

Raindrops on the roof
my heart pitter-pattering
memories tapping

                                    Lips of sweet nectar
                                       the memory of her kiss
                                         turn bitter with tears

Fading memories
the pavement of broken dreams
wet  with heaven's tears

Love and compassion
In time heals the bitter taste
             of tears on my lips

These are wonderful haiku that strike at the heart of concealed pain and loss...I particularly liked the haiku " Lips of sweet nectar

the memory of her kiss

turn bitter with tears "...

The painting in your first haiku intrigues me...Do you know the artist...Larry

They say pictures speak a thousand words, you have conveyed your thoughts so very well here, poignant, strong and artistic.

I loved them all, though these words have deep meanings for me. Thank you for the follow and for this beautiful haiku...

"Fading memories

the pavement of broken dreams

wet with heaven's tears"

maven101 ~ deep emotions of past memories did indeed come to play when I wrote these Haikus. Thank you for allowing me to share it with you. Unfortunately I cannot give you any information about the artist. I just googled "raindrops" and like you the painting caught my attention...and emotion.

The combination of words and imagery conveys exactly what your soul brings forth and you have done it here beautifully. I believe the Haiku has discovered you:0) Well done my friend. Rated Up and Up some more. The video Kiss the Rain was an added feature, brilliant.

saddlerider1 ~ Sometimes words are not adequate to express fully what we feel. With the use of imagery and music the words somehow become more meaningful. Thank you my friend and best wishes for the holidays and may the coming new year bring you the best. PEACE

I am really impressed with the images/emotions you’ve created in my mind with these haikus of yours. The pictures you’ve chosen also compliment the haikus.

I am, however, a bit confused. I was frozen by the rule that haiku may not contain words associated with human emotions, such as ‘love’, ‘sad’, etc. That it should be a clear picture of nature in such a way that it arouses emotion and deeper thoughts in the reader. Please help me out here. What is your definition of haikus, apart from the 5/7/5. And also about this – I’ve read somewhere that you can have any number of syllables in a line, as long as the total is 17.

I would really appreciate your reply. Thanks again for the amazing images you’ve created in my mind.

MartieCoetser ~ Strictly speaking you are correct. But like the structured forms of meditation they serve as a guide until one can go beyond the forms and learn the way of surrender,an emptying oneself of preconceptions(in the intellectual aspect) and hopefully the Haiku will mirror our true self-expression.Something akin to the enlightenment that Haiku masters have attain. As a learning process in progress, I have found the 5/7/5 format of the Haiku very helpful in composing poems of how I feel.I have taken liberties in using what is useful but I continue to explore the Haiku in hopes of deepening my understanding. Thank you for your inputs they are very much appreciated.

i read them once in the usual cursory fashion, then again once more to enjoy the words and then third time to relate to the pictures and let all the loves i have ever lost sink in.and know what? it is raining on my keyboard.

neeleshkulkarni ~ I hope it didn't do much damage to your keyboard :)Thank you for your comments.Gloomy weather sometimes bring back sad memories of past loves although I have on occasion gone out into the rain just to feel the sensation of "heaven's tears" washing away the bitter after taste.:)

Hi, I am beginning to really enjoy Haiku poems, they seem to convey much more than the usual poems, and yours are lovely, nell

Nell Rose ~ hello and thank you for the complement.I just happen to be comfortable with the format of the haiku although I will be the first to admit that there is much to learn if one wish to broaden their understanding and experience of the Haiku. Cheers.
